Being Creative with Rulers
Being Creative with Rulers
If you've taken the intro class and you're hooked, or if you bought a bunch of rulers forever ago and never got around to learning them, look no further. This 3-part class will expand on the basics and teach you how to apply your new technique to practical projects. During this class you will make a sampler of design options, a quilt-as-you-go table runner, and even a storage/carrying case for your rulers!
Supplies needed for ALL classes:
- Ruler foot starter package (ruler foot + 12" arc ruler) in the appropriate shank for your machine
- Westalee Sampler Set 1
- 8-point crosshair ruler (8.5" or 12.5")
- 5" Straight-Away template
- Janet Collins Design Book
- Fabric marking pens
- An extension table for your machine (Note: It is recommended to bring your largest machine to class. Maneuvering the project with a small throat can be difficult.)
Fabric for Projects:
- Class 1 (sampler): 5 quilt sandwiches measuring 21"x 21"
- Class 2 (runner): 1 yard of 3 fabrics. You will receive cutting and piecing instructions after class 1.
BEFORE COMING TO CLASS:
- Check to make sure that your machine has been serviced within the last year and that it is sewing properly. If it is giving you trouble or the stitch quality could be better, we recommend having it serviced for optimal results.
- Please make sure you know how to set the machine for free-motion quilting. This includes lowering your feed dogs and knowing how to adjust your tension. If you need help with these things, speak with the staff before your class date and we will be happy to assist.
