Our Beginnings
In 1981, as more boys were entering Home Economic Classes and unisex sewing patterns were nonexistent, three Home Ec Teachers launched SEAMS SEW EASY with a chef's apron pattern. This pattern, along with others that were later developed, was sold across the United States to Home Economics Teachers. Even today, teachers continue to use the patterns developed in the 1980's.
After the retirement of one of the partners and the move of another to the elementary grades, Nancy still kept the business going. In 2006, she approached the owner of Beach's Sew & Vac and proposed a collaboration with Seams Sew Easy to open a quilt shop inside their store.
In April of 2006, Seams Sew Easy officially became a quilt shop. The collaboration with Beach's gave sewists all the benefits of one stop shopping. Seams Sew Easy continues to develop patterns for the beginning sewer because even though Nancy has retired from teaching, her teaching instincts remain. Her philosophy with Seams Sew Easy is to provide a welcoming environment for all skill levels that encourages creativity and success.
On April 1st 2009, after finding the new store location Nancy had envisioned, Seams Sew Easy became an independent store at it's current location, where we're proud to have celebrated our thirteenth anniversary. The store is bright and cheerful with a roomy interior, spacious classroom, and a large selection of sewing machines and fabrics.
